Simple Woman's Daybook -- No TV!!

For April 20, 2009:

Outside my window...
It is gray and dreary and wet.

I am thinking...
About how to make this National Turn Off the TV Week work with husband/daddy out of town for half of it.

I am thankful for...
Spring!!! We had a glorious few days of doing nothing but reveling in the warm sunshine last week. It was wonderful.

From the learning rooms...
We are back on for school this week. . . for the next five weeks. This week's highlight will be studying rainbows.

From the kitchen...
We will be having easy meals while J is out of town.

I am wearing...
Black knit pants, a UGA sweatshirt, and. . . the kicker. . . a black and white sock and a black and gray sock.

I am creating...
Fairywood Farms, our fairy garden. We began it this weekend by fencing it in, planting two Balloon Flower plants and several dainty Pansies. We will be planting mini-carrot seeds sometime this week and a cherry tomato plant this weekend. We are going to paint a sign on a piece of slate and lay down paths of shells that we found on our beach trip. And then we have to be on the look out for more plants to put in and to make some more fairy housing.

I am going...
To the library tonight. . . with four kids. . . and no husband. Shouldn't be too bad.

I am reading...
Genesis 12-50
The Imitation of Christ
What Is a Family?
Anne of Windy Poplars

I am hoping...
For better weather the next few days.

I am hearing...
G, Teeny, and Bud-Jack playing behind me. Bud-Jack is singing the Indiana Jones theme song.

Around the house...
We will be preparing for a house full of guests this weekend for a church grill-out after a race against racism downtown. We are providing child care during the race and food afterwards.

One of my favorite things...
Library book sales. I had a great time finding some wonderfully like-new children's books at our library's book sale this Saturday. Now I eagerly await $1 bag day so I can pick through the leftovers.

A few plans for the rest of the week:
Monday: Library Night.
Tuesday:
Wednesday: Earth Day. J comes home late.
Thursday: St. George's Day. Small group fellowship/no Bible study.
Friday: Arbor Day.
Saturday: Child care during race and grill-out afterwards.
Sunday:
I also need to make a call to find out what is up with T-ball. I need to make a call to get the kids medical records faxed to our new doctor. And, I need to make plans for the weekend of the 8th. The 8th is M&M's birthday. . . J graduates from graduate school on the 9th. . . and the 10th is Mother's Day.

Here is picture thought I am sharing...

Stop by Peggy's to read more daybooks and participate yourself.

My boys are 14 and 17, I cannot imagine how they would freak if I tried to instigate "no tv week". Actually we don't watch that much, spend far much more time on the computers! Maybe computer free week would be good!
