A Simple Woman's Daybook ~*~ May Day

For April 27, 2009

Outside my window...
The skies are blue, the first of the lilacs are starting to bloom and they smell wonderful, and there are birds and critters out and about everywhere you look.

I am thinking...
That I will have to make a decisive effort to keep this day on the right track. I'm tired due to a restless night for the girls, and it is going to be h-o-t today. So, I am going to have to do some creative thinking and some easing up on expectations in order for us all to make it through being kind and loving to eachother.

I am thankful for...
Our hose sprayer head. It has several different settings, and the kids (and I) love it more than we would a plastic cartoon character sprinkler.

From the learning rooms...
Chugging along with Matthew 28
Finishing up learning the letter sounds
Reading about the ancient civilizations of the Americas (G is looking forward to learning about the indians of Nazca Peru -- Indiana Jones and the Legend of the Crystal Skull)
Finishing The Voyage of the Dawn Treader and beginning The Silver Chair
Reading about spring, worms, and flowers
Going on an evening worm hunt at the end of the week
Possibly going to the May Day Fairie Festival this weekend

From the kitchen...
I foresee a lot of chili dogs, chili burgers, chili fries, BBQ and coleslaw in our future.

I am wearing...
A pair of black knit capris and a t-shirt.

I am creating...
The kids garden plots this week.

I am going...
To the library tonight, of course.

I am reading...
Genesis 12-50
The Imitation of Christ by Thomas a Kempis
What is a Family? by Edith Schaeffer
Anne of Windy Poplars by L. M. Montgomery

I am hoping...
That Bud-Jack and M&M's sniffles, coughs, and sneezes are nothing serious.

I am hearing...
Teeny and M&M playing with Chubbs the cat. And birds singing sweetly outside.

Around the house...
It was some weekend, and my house shows it. We are in recovery mode now.

One of my favorite things...
Is our sunroom. It hasn't even been "fixed"/renovated yet, and I love it. It is oh, so relaxing to curl up on a chair in there in the cool of the evening and *just*sit*.

A few plans for the rest of the week:
Today: Library night.
Tuesday:
Wednesday: Catherine of Siena and all about peace
Thursday: Walpurgisnacht (German fare)
Friday: May Day, St. Joseph the Worker, and G and J go to their first York Revolution baseball game this season.
Saturday: Teeny and J go to a York Revolution baseball game
Sunday: Discipleship and fellowship with our church

Here is picture thought I am sharing...

Stop by Peggy's for more daybook fun.

I've had to work at keeping today on track too. Glad I'm not alone and hope your day is going well.

Great blog. I love Thomas a Kempis- his Imitation... is a staple during my Holy Hour. Your menu sounds yummy!
God Bless!
