A Simple Woman's Daybook for Mardi Gras

In my blog reading, I've come across Peggy's The Simple Woman's Daybook. It looked like alot of fun. Stop by to see examples of other daybooks and try it out yourself. Also, check out Peggy's other offerings. I'm looking forward to reading some of her other postings.

FOR TODAY, Monday, February 23rd, 2009...

Outside my window...

It is dark and clear outside. Were it not so cold I would have been tempted to sit outside and star-gaze with G tonight.

I am thinking...

About mine and J's marriage discipleship meeting tomorrow. I'm a bit nervous about having to face, in front of others, my many shortcomings; but I know that the Lord will bless -- is already blessing -- the time that we will be putting into our marriage together.

I am thankful for...

A warm home.

From the learning rooms...

I'm planning out our spring homeschool schedule, hoping to have it finished by Friday and ready to begin a week from today. Right now I'm working on Family Worship, including our morning Bible readings, hymn for the spring months and special days.

From the kitchen...

We are gearing up for Mardi Gras tomorrow. Breakfast will be pancakes and all the sausage left in the freezer. Lunch will be chicken wings and fries and possibly a homemade pizza. The kids will be having take-out pizza with some wonderful friends who have offered to watch them over the next six Tuesdays. But we will finish out the night with "moonpies", imagining that we are at a real Mardi Gras parade shouting, "Moonpie! Moonpie!"

I am wearing...

Jeans, a pale teal longsleeved T, and an oversized grey sweatshirt that used to belong to J. I'm about to trade the jeans for some new purple plaid PJ pants though.

I am creating...

Mardi Gras masks with the kids. We cut, painted and decorated today. Tomorrow we will attach sticks and don some "fancy" clothes for our celebrating.

I am going...

to bed in about an hour. . . hopefully.

I am reading...

The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie. I've only got a few chapters to go, and I'm dying to see if I've correctly guessed "who done it".

I am hoping...

To get some decent sleep tonight. Hoping for some long stretches from M&M.

I am hearing...

Nothing but the hum of the computer and the occasional skirmish between our two cats. Glorious.

Around the house...

Trying to get the house ready for our friends tomorrow. My agenda tomorrow, along with all the Mardi Gras feasting, is to maintain the main of the house, straighten up the girls' room, mop the kitchen, and do a load or two of laundry.

One of my favorite things...

My "Prune Juice Cocktail." It used to both embarass and gross me out. But I've grown accustomed to the drink and realize that I'm not the only one who finds such things beneficial. For anyone interested, you mix 1/2 c. prune juice, 1 c. water, and 1 TBL lemon juice. I pour mine over ice.

A few plans for the rest of the week:

Mardi Gras and discipleship tomorrow. Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent after that. A trip a couple hours east to see my Aunt and her family and my grandma and my parents who are stopping by in the middle of their moving things from Georgia to New Hampshire.

Here is picture thought I am sharing...

From our Mardi Gras celebrations last year.

Wow, thanks for stopping by. I love unexpected visitors! I tried to leave a comment on your "What's on Your Nightstand" post, but your blog must not like me. If you figure that out, let me know.
